Easy Kerala Chicken Curry

By |September 23rd, 2020|Categories: Misc., Titus 2:5 Initiative|Comments Off on Easy Kerala Chicken Curry

Today we are going to make a VERY SIMPLE South Indian chicken curry. (It’s a simplified version of my mother in love’s recipe). But before we get started, I wanted to give you a brief explanation as to why...with a gazillion cooking videos out there on you tube...I would choose to create one more. ? It’s part of the Titus 2:5 mandate. In Titus 2:5, Paul encourages older women (that’s me ) to teach younger women (that might be you) how to ‘stay busy’ or, as some translations put it, ‘maintain a home’...and girls, part of maintaining a home might

A Role Model

Among the gifts that I am blessed with are having a younger brother and sister. What’s unique about my sister and me, in particular, is that we are ten years apart from one another. Therefore, sharing clothes, getting into trouble, or going to college together was not a part of our experience growing up. Even having children has been unique as my oldest is a college freshman and her firstborn is four years old.  There are many qualities that have made our relationship special, but it has been particularly heartwarming to watch my niece look up to my daughter with

Work from the Heart

Even with all that’s going on in the world, I think we can all agree on the fact that life doesn’t stop for anyone. Unfortunately, people continue to struggle with feeling ill with varying health issues, to receive difficult diagnoses and prognoses, to need chemotherapy or radiation, and the list goes on. I’m no exception to this. While it may not be life-threatening, sinus issues have been so challenging that I require surgery. In preparation for such, I had to have a COV-ID test. Honestly, just hearing about this swab had made me queasy. As I pulled up to the

Essential Worker

By |September 18th, 2020|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook, Misc.|Tags: , , , |Comments Off on Essential Worker

I am an essential worker. On the days I go in to work, my husband quietly waits by the door to pray for me as I lace up my sneakers in the garage. This has been our routine for the past few months. We both know that when I leave our safe little fortress, I am about to enter the world where people cough and viruses roam. He knows the risk I take along with millions of other people who lace up their shoes, raise up their masks, and cover whatever part of their body they can. But do you

Working All Things For My Good

About a week ago as I was pulling my car out of my garage and rushing to an appointment, I saw a notification on my dashboard that one of my tires was very low on air.   It just so happened that the appointment was close by, so I just said a quick prayer and slowly drove to get to my appointment.  I figured I had enough air to get me there and I would deal with it afterwards. After my appointment was over, I started my car and my dashboard showed that the tire had lost even more air during

Altar of Remembrance

By |September 16th, 2020|Categories: Articles, Devotionals|Tags: , , |Comments Off on Altar of Remembrance

Back in January of 2019, my sister, Anu, encouraged us to create an ‘altar of remembrance.’ So I did. And over the past couple of months, my altar (aka- thankfulness jar) has been filling up at an alarmingly faster rate than usual. In July, my older son recovered from COVID-19. Thank you Jesus! Time to write a note of praise. In August, God rescued my mom from an unexpected health scare...Praise God! Another entry added to my jar. And in September, God protected my younger son from what could have been a life altering car accident. Thank you Father!!! As

Don’t Quit

One of my son's first Biology experiments this school year is to plant seeds and observe its growth. He has been diligent to follow the instructions of putting the soil in the cup, planting the seeds, placing it in sunlight, and watering it regularly.  Initially, when my son checked on it daily, he noticed that it looked the same: just a bunch of dirt in the cup. Nevertheless, he continued to care for it as instructed. However, a few days of this process left him feeling discouraged. He wondered if these seeds had taken root and if they would even

Carpet Stains

By |September 10th, 2020|Categories: Facebook, Misc.|Tags: , , , |Comments Off on Carpet Stains

There is a stain on my carpet. It's the size of a small pancake. I know that in the midst of all that is happening in the world, this is a very, very small problem.  But it really bothers me. It started as a very small spot on the carpet in the entrance of my bedroom.  I see it every time I walk in and out of the room. I cleaned it once and thought it was gone.  It magically reappeared a few days later.  This time, I attacked it with all my might.  I researched carpet cleaners and ran

Laughter and Marriage

By |September 9th, 2020|Categories: Misc.|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on Laughter and Marriage

My husband and I had the privilege of celebrating 21 years of marriage this past weekend. We’re filled with gratitude to the Lord, especially for all the lessons we have learned along the way. Looking back, life was relaxing when we first married. We enjoyed dining at restaurants, traveling to memorable destinations, and leisurely hanging out with friends.  Then, the pace picked up as we became homeowners and parents. Life had changed.  Please don’t get me wrong. These changes were great as they’re exactly what we prayed for. The Lord entrusted us with a home and children to care for.

A Job Well Done

By |September 7th, 2020|Categories: Devotionals|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on A Job Well Done

When I was 16 years old, I had my first job as an “orderly” at a hospital.  I was entrusted with transporting patients to and from the radiology department.   I’m not sure what the patients thought when they saw me coming with the wheelchair or stretcher, but thankfully, we all survived. It’s not something we talk about a lot but it is something that is a part of our daily lives: WORK.  And today is the day we actually “celebrate the contributions of the workforce” - Labor Day. How we perceive our work varies from person to person.  For
