My 5 year-old figured out my husband’s smartphone password, so all the apps and games were within easy access for my little man. He was so quick at grabbing the phone that we would be in constant search for it. There was no telling where my son was hiding with it.
So, in an effort to prevent access to the apps, my husband decided to remove the password completely and changed it to fingerprint access only. By doing this, only he could be able to unlock the world hidden in his phone.
This didn’t stop my little guy.
When my husband was eating a meal or distracted by the television, my son shrewdly grabbed his dad’s finger and swiped the phone, and then he ran off to his hiding spot.
We all have a fingerprint that uniquely defines us. Without my husband’s unique identity, my son would never have been able to gain access.
You are also defined by your unequal and incomparable story. It’s a story peppered by highs and lows. You know those seasons when you were full of questions and wondered why it happened? How about that time of extreme joy because of sweet success?
All of those experiences are part of your story that no one can replicate. What’s amazing about your story is that it’s one that only YOU can tell. And it’s YOUR testimony.
When you share your life experiences with the people around you (believers or not), you place yourself on the same playing field and can help them relate. It’s a chance to share how God pulled you through a rough time or how God opened a door to a particular opportunity. Isn’t God part of it all? He makes ALL THINGS work together for good (Romans 8:28) (NIV).
I had the opportunity to do that just this morning when I was talking to a colleague. What a relief that I don’t have to hide the fact that God was part of my story.
You’re story, like your fingerprint, is matchless. Ask God to show you how you can share it. No one else can tell it like you can.
