We were a family of six growing up, so a station wagon made sense.  To Dad, though, having TWO station wagons made even more sense.

I can still picture the back door of the blue wagon, plastered with what seemed like a hundred bumper stickers. Dad was the pastor of our church, so it served as a ministry tool.  “NO Jesus, NO Peace; KNOW Jesus, KNOW peace!”

We made use of those cars, enjoying long road trips and making hundreds of memories along the way. One particular time, my sisters and I were in the back of the car, and in a station wagon, when you sit in the back, you are facing the rear.

We were entertaining ourselves by waving at the drivers behind us.  One such driver kept waving back frantically. We giggled and continued the exchange.  He was having fun with us.

I then noticed his facial expression was serious, he was pointing at our car, and trying to say something.  I suddenly realized that he wasn’t waving for fun, he was trying to get our attention because there was something wrong!

When we finally pulled over, Dad discovered that there was a gas leak, and fortunately, it was an easy fix.

God used Ezekiel, a man from royal lineage, to be His prophet.  Ezekiel was a bold man called to perform different tasks that were symbolic to warn the Israelites of their coming destruction.  Their disobedience was stirring God’s judgements.

He was met with opposition.

The Israelites desired to live like the other nations.  They did not heed the warning signs and continued keeping vile images, worshipping them. They desecrated the Sabbaths, and devoted their hearts to idols (Ezekiel 20-21).

They completely missed the red flags and kept “having fun”.

Has God sent you a person or a situation as a warning sign that you have completely missed because you’re “having fun”?

Is there an area of your life or a behavior pattern that God is prompting you to change so that your walk with Him can be more authentic and sweet?

The Lord wants to bring you into covenant with him and purge you from defilement, so that you can become His bride.  Get rid of those things that are hindering you from enjoying this love relationship.  And just like that bumper sticker says, once you know the love of Jesus, you will know His peace.
