While I was driving a few weeks ago, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and praise to the Lord.

No, I had not won the lottery … although that would have been nice ;) I had not even been the recipient of really great news.

Earlier that morning, I was at a medical appointment. A procedure had been done to help my child with a challenge that has been around for years. There was pain and also, anxiety associated with the procedure.

As a mom, my heart aches each time I see my children in any kind of distress or pain. That day was no different. But I prayed and trusted that my child was in the Father’s hands and that He was their comfort and help during the procedure.

Typically, I speak words of encouragement over my child during such instances. Again, that day was no different. However, I also felt prompted to play an instrumental of worship music. When the doctor was working with my child, this music was playing softly in the background while I also declared Scriptures aloud.

Tears and cries from pain were seen and heard. So when it was all done, we breathed a sigh of relief.

During the drive home, my child thanked me for playing the music and followed by saying these beautiful words, “I really felt the presence of God there with me.” Thank You, Lord!

These lyrics from Never Once by Matt Redman encapsulate that moment well:
“Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Yes, our hearts can say
Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful”

Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT) reminds us: “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

Whatever it is you are walking through, my prayer is that you would feel the amazing presence of the Lord all around you. And may everything within you bless His holy name.
