PhotoGrid_1468268266404Last night as I was watching a sitcom, the episode focused on a couple attempting to host their engagement party amidst anger and tension between their parents. To solve this unacceptable problem, the main character created a unity blanket which she displayed for the entire family to see. It had a beautifully stitched square for each family member. Eventually, the family members agreed to be peaceful with one another for the sake of the couple.

It made me think of the present tension we have been experiencing in our country. Like the main character I mentioned, I feel quite sad but I don’t want to remain in this disposition.

Attending service at Covenant Church yesterday quickly improved my countenance as I looked across our diverse congregation worshipping together. It caused me to reflect on the amazing relationships God has helped me form over the years and I was overwhelmed with gratitude.

So to follow suit of #theusmovement begun by our visionary Anitha, I’ve created a collage which shows my beautiful sisters in Christ. Different colors. Different backgrounds. All united by the love of God. Seeing these faces gives me hope that we can be the reconcilers God has called us to be, as Pastor Mike Hayes taught. We can be understanding of one another and live together in harmony when led by the love of God. We can do this with His help for the sake of our country and it’s people.

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
