Fun fact about me: I drive a mini-van.
If it were up to my husband, I’d be driving an SUV. But I just love the ease and space that comes with a mini-van.
What I have found interesting though is how the vehicles in my vicinity react when they see my mode of transportation on the road. Without question, if they are coming up behind me, they immediately change lanes to pass me. I guess the assumption is that it’s a mom-mobile and it will only move at the pace of a snail.
The big surprise, however, is when I pass those same vehicles. What they don’t realize is who is behind the wheel … a lady with a lead foot. What can I say? Once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker lol.
An assumption was made about David when he showed up to fight Goliath in 1 Samuel chapter 17. In the eyes of those around him, he appeared to be too young, small, and inexperienced. But what they didn’t realize was that God was at work within his willing heart to give him the boldness, courage, and strength needed to defeat the giant.
An assumption was made about the boy who shared his lunch of five small loaves of bread and two small fish in John chapter 6. The disciples wondered how far this limited quantity could go to feed so many. But what they didn’t realize is that his generous heart was seen by Jesus, who multiplied his lunch, fed thousands, and even had leftovers.
Maybe you’re in a similar situation today. Assumptions are made about you because what you bring to the table doesn’t seem to be quite enough.
Dear Friend, look at what God’s Word says:
“… greater is He that is in you,” (1 John 4:4 KJV)
“For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7 ESV)
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)
Just imagine what God can do in and through you! All He needs is a willing heart.
