Humility
Empathy
Patience
Self-reflection
Wisdom

That’s quite a list, isn’t it?

For the past ten years, I have seen these traits evident in our visionary, Anu. In fact, these are among the many traits that have made her an amazing leader to our ministry team.

Let’s face it: leading a team, especially one comprised of women, is no small feat. Everyone has different ideas. And everyone has their own way of doing things.

But we have seen how Anu prayerfully seeks the Lord for a plan, shares it with our team, hears our thoughts, and prayerfully hands it back to the Lord. Then, she executes with faith and the result is beautiful … far better than we can ever imagine EVERY time. How she has fostered our team has exemplified kindness and compassion.

Besides Anu’s leadership being inspiring, it is empowering. She has equipped us to be impactful in our spheres of influence.

Reading through the books of Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy left me in awe of the Lord and His holiness. But what also stood out to me was Moses’ leadership.

Moses approached Pharaoh with boldness.
Moses led the Israelites through the exodus.
Moses had an intimate relationship with the Lord.
Moses faithfully instructed the Israelites.
Moses empowered Joshua as the next leader of the Israelites.

Deuteronomy 18:15 records of Moses: “The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.”

Many people mistake leadership as glamorous but a godly leader is a servant leader as evidenced throughout the Bible. Psalm 78:72 paints a beautiful picture: “With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.

Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us, “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

As a result of such leadership, people find meaning to what they do and a community is fostered.

Dear Friend, I don’t know what your circle of influence looks like whether it is with your family, team at work, or a small group. But my prayer is may the Lord help us today to lead with godly, servant hearts.
