I remember walking into a small bridal boutique to look for a wedding dress.  It was a two-room quaint structure that had all the appearances of a little home. This location had been recommended by a friend, and it happened to be the right place for me.

The dress I had imagined with its lace bodice and A-line skirt was among the gorgeous gowns, and once I tried it on in front of the three-way mirror, I knew it was the one.

The seamstress measured me to get the size to perfection.  She was a small, kind lady that pulled out her tape measure while listening to my requests for the length of neck, the cap sleeves and the train.  Her patience with me showed me how much she understood the importance of each detail. It took multiple visits with this sweet woman, but it was all worth it.

Ezekiel was given a vision by the Spirit of God of the courts of the Temple with details so specific that even the measurements of the door jamb and hinges were presented.  The carvings of the cherubim and palm trees on the walls were among the minute specifics described to Ezekiel. How intricate each aspect of this temple was for our Lord!

Bible commentators believe that the Temple described to Ezekiel during the captivity of Israel was a vision of a future Temple, perhaps to be built for the millenium.  When you think about it, Ezekiel is given this vision while the Isrealites have been in captivity for 25 years! How lonely and forgotten the Israelites must have felt.

Until now…

A vision of a Temple in which God will again dwell with His people.  A temple with sophisticated measurements given by God to His prophet.  The people were not forgotten!

Why do the details matter?  Without the seamstress, I would not have had the same confidence I felt that day.  However, because of her thoughtful measurements, I was able to walk down the aisle like a princess, knowing that every stitch was in place.

What was the purpose of the specifications for the gates, courtyards, and furnishings in Ezekiel’s vision?  God was preparing a place for His people, and He wanted it to be done to perfection.

God is in the details.

Your Father has an intricate plan for your life in 2019, and it includes particulars you would otherwise consider minutiae. Nothing is haphazard or vague.  What area of your life do you need God’s direction? Ask your Father in heaven for guidance, and you will be surprised at how elaborately He has worked everything out for your good.
