When I reflect on the challenges I have faced in life, I can’t help but think how grateful I am that the Lord is always with us.

Just recently, there were unexpected circumstances which had to be dealt with immediately. I found myself being thrust into the position of managing a huge project. I did not possess knowledge or expertise in this area and literally found myself learning along the way. Not to mention, I was navigating through emotions, coordinating appointments, and making decisions faster than I could spell my name!

The fact is that I was overwhelmed. I was tempted to dwell on how I was not equipped for this role. But instead, I was fueled by the words of our Savior: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV)

I trust You, Lord.

I also felt an immense amount of pressure in this role and as a result, I was frightened that I would make a mistake, but I was reminded time and again: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

I look to You for help, Lord.

Quickly, I realized that this new role was so much more than just a project. It was about being a carrier of the Lord’s presence. As Matthew 5:16 says, “… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Now that seems easy enough when the people you deal with are kind. But when they’re not … that’s a whole ‘nother story, am I right? As I studied Romans 12, I was reminded that love in action includes speaking a blessing over even the not-so-kind folks.

I need Your strength, Lord.

The song “Fires” by Jordan St. Cyr encapsulates my testimony so well:

“You’ve walked me through fires
Pulled me from flames
If You’re in this with me
I won’t be afraid
When the smoke billows higher, oh and higher
And it feels like I can barely breathe
I’ll walk through these fires
‘Cause You’re walking with me”

Thank You, Lord, for peace.
