Reading through the book of Psalms is quite sobering. David is as real as it gets between the honest struggles and sincere praises he shares with the Lord.

Even though he knew he was doing the right thing by following after God, David was faced with challenges galore. His anguish was evident: “My heart pounds in my chest … Fear and trembling overwhelm me,” (Psalm 55:4-5 NLT)

Yet, he maintained his hope in the unfailing love of the Lord: “O Lord, You alone are my hope. I’ve trusted You, O Lord, from childhood. Yes, You have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb You have cared for me. … You have been my strength and protection. That is why I can never stop praising You;” (Psalm 71:5-8 NLT)

This song, “You Keep Hope Alive” has blessed me:
“Days may be darkest, but Your light is greater
You light our way, God,”

“Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged.” (Psalm 69:32 NLT)
