I was recently looking for a job.
With a blank canvas in front of me, I wasn’t sure which direction to take.
I spoke to God about it, and I asked Him, “Where do you want me?”
After combing though a few websites, I came upon one opportunity that seemed like a pipe dream, but I went ahead and applied.
A few interviews later, I got the call that the team was interested in me. My voice remained calm when I replied, “Thank you!”, but there was a stampede of horses racing through my heart.
I couldn’t believe it.
I was overjoyed, but more than that, I felt a peace because God had answered my prayer.
THIS is where he wanted me. He took a nobody like me and put me in front of some giants in my profession and gave me a seat among them.
If you asked me today how it all happened, I truly cannot explain. God arranged for the right people to be at the right place at the right time to give me that seat.
So, my answer to you will be, “It’s all God”, because it really is.
And that’s what God does when you ask Him to move on your behalf.
I do know, however, that with my assignment comes great responsibility and I am entrusted with it.
Remember Esther? Her parents had died and she was adopted by her older cousin, Moredecai.
Through a string of events that involved the right people at the right place at the right time, Esther was elevated to Queen status.
Wow. But with that, came great responsibility. Her job wasn’t easy…she had to deal with a deceptive villain, a death threat to her people group, and mustering up courage to face the King.
How did she do all that?
She knew her identity.
As I was driving home my new job this week, I heard Pastor Troy Brewer say over the radio that our assignment is linked to our purpose which is linked to our identity.
Although we do not see the name of God through the book of Esther, we see His hand weaving through the chapters.
When Esther hears that the Jewish people will be destroyed, she asked all the Jews of Susa and her maidens to fast ALONG WITH HER before she stood before the King to ask her request to avoid this destruction.
She KNEW who she was.
Therefore, she KNEW her purpose in that moment.
Which led to her to KNOW her assignment.
Identity -> Purpose -> Assignment
Are you struggling with feeling fulfilled in your purpose?
Know your value in Jesus Christ. You are a masterpiece. Once this settles in you, God’s purpose in your life will be revealed. And before you know it, you will be completing the assignment he has designed specifically for you.
The seat is ready for you to fill it.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
You were made “for such a time as this”. Esther 4:14 (NLT)
