Recently when I was walking back to my desk at work, I noticed something that I had not seen in a while.

The office was full of people and buzzing with activity.

While that may not seem significant, I was immediately taken back to the Spring of 2020.  The company I work for had just moved into a new office space less than 8 months prior.  The company was expanding and the previous office space could no longer accommodate its growth.

But when 2020 came, the global pandemic left the world locked in and locked down.  This brand new office space became a ghost town overnight.  I remember talking to my boss back then and asked him what he was planning on doing.  They had signed a 7 year lease for this new space and just a few months in, there wasn’t a soul working in that big office space.

My boss is a follower of Christ, and so what he said didn’t surprise me.  He said yes, it’s kind of crazy what’s happened.  But it’s going to be okay.  We’re just going to stay here and see what happens.  And just like that, I felt better and reassured because he seemed so confident about it.

And so today, 2 years later I am in awe to see this office buzzing with activity again.  In fact we have more people in the office today than we had before the pandemic.  No one is social distancing, and no one seems afraid of getting sick.

My initial reaction in 2020 to this unprecedented pandemic was one of fear and anxiety.  I really believed that things would NEVER, EVER be the same.  But in time, we have seen the world slowly come back to a somewhat normal level.

And as for my company, due to the high price of real estate now, the timing of when they moved into this building and locked in their lease for 7 years, was nothing short of God’s favor.

Isn’t it amazing how God works?  While we’re in the thick of it, we are overwhelmed and buried with fear and doubt.  We find ourselves in a situation we never imagined could happen to us.

And yet, if we can just look back at the last overwhelming and crazy situation we were in, didn’t we find God to be faithful through that?  Didn’t we find ourselves on the other side of that saying “Has he been working all along behind the scenes, even when I couldn’t see it?”

The answer is a resounding YES!  And just like my office is brimming with activity from real people sitting at their desks in the office, the impossible situation you may find yourself in today will be resolved when the timing is right.

If you find that the resolution is not as quick as you would like, it could also mean that God is working some things out in you as well.  On the other side of your trial, I hope you will find yourself with more patience, humility, faith, and character to carry you to the next challenge that God has for you.  It’s not ever easy, but He who has been faithful for yesterday, is faithful today, and for the future.
