Is this the time to rest, or is this the time to fight? I’ve had to ask myself this question at pivotal points in my life, especially when it came to the life of my mom.

It has now been 11 years since my mother went to be with the Lord.   But my mom was at death’s door several times before then. There were at least 3 major times in my life  that I thought we were going to lose her….when I was a young child, when I was in college, and when I was in my early twenties.

You see, my mom had struggled with different health issues as long as I can remember.  And the doctors who were caring for her didn’t usually speak with hope when they were discussing her case.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think they were bad doctors. But I believe they looked at the facts as they were on paper, and gave a prognosis according to what they saw.

But in each of those times when the spirit of death was circling my mom, I remember thinking that this can’t be it.  So instead of taking what was spoken to us as truth, we prayed, and fought, and saw God do the impossible.

Where do you find yourself today?  Are you in a situation where the doctors, or the people around you are saying that it’s hopeless and you should just give up?  But in your heart, you feel a nudge that this is not the time to rest, but to fight?

If so, then you should fight.

That may look like talking to your boss about something that needs to be addressed head on.  It may mean rolling up your sleeves and working harder than ever to bring a failing business back to life.  It may mean that you gather your prayer warriors and fight in the spirit for the life of someone you love.

I believe the Holy Spirit will guide you in how to respond.  In the scripture we see that God guided his people and those who were obedient witnessed the impossible become possible.

Moses went before Pharaoh and asked to let his people go from Egypt.

Esther went before the king and asked for mercy for the lives of her people.

Ezekial spoke to a valley of dry bones and saw a great army spring forth.

In my life, I believe because we didn’t give up, my mom lived until her assignment on earth was done.  From the last near death experience that my mom had, until her death, God gave us 10 meaningful and intentional years with her.  She lived to see her children grow up, graduate college, get married, and have babies. And at the time of her death, she was the doting grandmother to 7 grandchildren.

Today, it may be time for you to speak to your situation, and fight until you see the tide turning.  If God is nudging you to fight, then He will finish what He started. Don’t give up. Trust Him and watch Him see it through.
