There have been numerous teachable moments in my life. Writing for our devotional, Quest For More, has been no exception.
For me, the process of writing involved reading the assigned Scripture, praying about what the Lord was saying to me, and then jotting those thoughts down.
As much as I love to write, I found myself feeling challenged to do so. You see, there was a battle in my mind: Who am I that God would want to speak to me? What qualifies me to share these thoughts with women? Fear and insecurity had reared their ugly heads. It didn’t take me long to realize that if I was left to my own vices, I would have probably abandoned the project.
But the Bible is no ordinary book. The words are breathed by God, our Creator of all things, and therefore, it is transforming. As I read chapter after chapter, I was reminded time and again of the countless powerful truths and promises in God’s Word. “For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 AMP)
I had to take my thoughts captive and speak Scriptures aloud. I had to ask the Lord for the courage and strength to overcome fear and insecurity. He heard me and He helped me, step by step. And the Lord, in His Sovereignty, provided an amazing team whose leadership, support, and spirit of excellence propelled me to complete the task.
This is what the Lord did for me in this process. Just imagine what He can do for you in your circumstances, my Friend.
