These past few months have been a whirlwind of activity in our parts, but all good things.
In addition to attending two wedding celebrations in our family, we traveled for three trips. We relaxed, visited great sights, had good eats, and spent quality time with many loved ones. Overall, it just seems like we have accumulated a lifetime of memories in just a matter of months. I have no other words except to say that I’m grateful.
You see, there’s one saying that has stayed with me since 2020: no regrets. Without a doubt, it was a year of witnessing loss: of life, celebrations, relationships, and ultimately, peace and joy. That coupled with unexpected changes prompted our family’s hearts to make a shift in our minds and resolve to make the most of each moment.
I’m reminded of these lyrics from “One Day at a Time” by Lynda Randle:
“… yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Lord help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time”
To arrive at that point required us to grab a hold of Proverbs 3:5-6 (TPT): “Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on Him to guide you, and He will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go.”
As a result, we have taken leaps of faith and I’m so glad we did. Our hearts feel fuller and our relationships are stronger. The Lord in His infinite mercy heard our cry for His love to overflow in every interaction, for His joy to be abundant, and for His peace to cover us.
Dear Friend, I have spent much of my life telling myself that I will only allow myself to experience certain things once all my ducks are lined perfectly in a row. But the Lord has helped me realize that since tomorrow is not guaranteed, I don’t want to put off for tomorrow what I can do today.
God’s Word reminds us:
“Teach us to realize the brevity of life,” (Psalm 90:12 NLT)
“Make the most of every opportunity” (Ephesians 5:16 NLT)
Wherever you may find yourself in life today, whether you need to reconnect with a loved one or carve out time to take a breather, my prayer is that the Lord would help you to live with no regrets.
