Are you looking for a quick and easy homemade snack that will impress your guests, help you meet your daily vegetable goal (kinda 😉), satisfy your spicy/savory craving and goes great with a hot cup of Chaiya.

How about a pakoda?

Today we have a guest post/video by one of my closest friends, Shyni Ann Simon . She will be teaching us how to make pakodas.

But before we begin, if you’re wondering what making pakodas has to do with our ministry page…please allow me to explain.

This is a part of our #Titus25initiative.

In Titus 2:5, Paul encourages older women (that’s me) to teach younger women (that might be you) how to ‘stay busy’ or, as some translations put it, ‘maintain a home’…and girls, part of maintaining a home might involve a little cooking. 👩🏽‍🍳

Don’t worry, the recipes we share are fairly simple and very tasty. So here we go…it’s time to make Pakodas!

See recipe below and/or Click on the YouTube link to watch Shyni make this delicious Indian snack! (Watch till the end for a suprise cameo appearance 😊)

Ingredients:
2 cups besan/chickpea flour
Finely chopped:
1 jalapeño
1 peeled potato
1 purple onion
4-5 sprigs of fresh cilantro
2 cups spinach

Dry spices:
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder and salt

Oil for frying
Water

The process:

Combine besan flour, dry spices and water until you have a thick liquid
Add all chopped ingredients

Fry:

Release tablespoon size droplets into hot oil. Cook for about 2 minutes each side.
Scoop into strainer so excess oil can drain

Serve hot with a cup of chaiya!

Pakodas are great by itself or you can dip in ketchup or Maggie hot and sweet sauce!

Pray, Eat and Enjoy!!!
