A dear friend of mine struggled with depression. When I came across the blog, A day in the Life of Depression, written by Jodi Harris, my heart sank.

I felt as if I was reading a page out of my friend’s journal. I’ve heard these words before.

Who cares if the house is dirty? Who cares if the laundry doesn’t get done? If I don’t cook dinner, we can eat cereal. If I don’t show up to my life, someone else will, so the things I do around here, never mind. Someone else can do them.”

Mental health isn’t something our culture talks about much…but depression is real.

And Healing can be a process.

Stay in community. Stay connected. Get help. Isolation is the worst thing you can do to yourself. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

King David walked through the darkest of valleys, the prophet Elijah prayed that he might die.

Our God understands you. He rescued both of these men and He will rescue you.

You see, the devil is real… and he is a liar. His tactics have not changed. He desires to isolate us. To steal, to kill and to destroy us. But out of Jesus own mouth, Jesus tells us, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

GOD IS FIGHTING FOR YOU!

This wasn’t the final page of Jodi’s journal…and if you’re struggling with depression, it’s not the final page of yours. Like Jodi, you too will be VICTORIOUS.

If you are in need of help, please reach out to a friend or a family member who loves you, and to whom you can trust. Someone who will pray with you and for you.

If you are in need of more intense help, do not feel ashamed. Like Betsy mentioned in her post last week, “Sometimes, we need to seek counseling from a licensed professional, depending on our experiences. Trained counselors can help us in ways friends cannot.

Treatment is treatment and prayer is prayer, God uses both. Only the Lord can ultimately lift anyone out of anything.

If you are in the DFW area, might I suggest.
