When I was a newlywed, I quickly discovered how different my husband and I were about tackling household tasks. We each had our own style of folding laundry. We had different definitions of what tidy looks like. My thought was, “I’ll just do it all by myself!”

However, the Lord humbled me and showed me how to take the best from each of our methods and work together. Don’t get me wrong – there was a learning curve, but there has been peace and joy as we divide and conquer based on our strengths.

God truly helped us to see the beauty in this powerful verse: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)

I am reminded of Moses and how the Lord called him to deliver the Israelites. Ultimately, this was accomplished with the help of his brother Aaron. Working together in unity with their eyes fixed on the Lord yielded blessings for the Israelites and pointed countless to our awesome Father.

So now, my mantra has become “Teamwork makes the dream work!”

Romans 12:4-6 states, “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”

I am grateful that this has been a guiding principle for our team at Whispers and Fringes.

Between administration, teaching, prayer, managing finances, creating for social media, and event planning, each one of us uses our gifts individually and collectively all to the glory of God. We truly celebrate what each person brings to the team.

But what has brought me even greater joy is seeing how this came to life while our families were together this past weekend.

You see, we attended PCNAK – a conference most of our team has been to as teens and twenty-somethings.

During the conference, our team had a booth featuring our merch including the devotional we wrote: Quest for More. While our team reacquainted with old friends, met new friends, heard stories of encouragement, and prayed with those in need, our spouses and children jumped in to help us set up, sell merch, and tear down. Each person used their gifts with excellence to help accomplish our goal.

Truly, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)

Dear Friend, I pray that as you work with others whether it’s in your marriage, workplace, or ministry, you will be encouraged to recognize the gifts in each other and work cooperatively together. We all need each other and we can advance His Kingdom faster together!
