Moms (and the Bible) know best.

I don’t know if this woman in the video is a believer or not but what she shares has some scriptural backing to it. She challenges her kids to follow up any negative statements with a “Yeah, but…” and find the positive in it.

My dad has had a few hospitalizations recently. While there have been many points of frustration, we have had our own “Yeah, but…” moments too.

He had to be rushed to the ER…yeah, but my mom was with him and able to drive him there.
He has been in the hospital…yeah, but they are fixing the problem.
He has had some setbacks…yeah, but at least they have caught it early enough.

How does the Bible instruct us in this?
Philippians 4:8 Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].

Not only that, as believers, we can add one more thing to the “Yeah, but…” phrase.

“YEAH, BUT GOD…”.

There have been countless “Yeah, but God…” moments in my life. I bet you could say the same.

Scripture shares some with us too:
“…With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26
“My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Ps 73:26
“You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good…”. Genesis 50:20

What situation are you in that is challenging?
What is your “Yeah, but…” statement?
Better yet, what is your “Yeah, but God…” truth?
