Last week, we at Whispers and Fringes were blessed with the opportunity to speak at a conference in Miami. Not only was it an honor for us to equip and encourage others together, but we walked away with fun memories.

But the travel … well, that’s a different story. When we boarded in Dallas, we didn’t take off immediately. In fact, after fastening our seat belts and waiting patiently for this journey to begin, we were instructed to exit the plane. Once we did so, we had to ride a speedy tram from one end of the airport to another. Then, after we boarded the next plane, we still remained on the ground due to delays. Let’s just say that when we finally took off and arrived in Miami, it was three hours past the original arrival time.

Here’s the truth: it was very late, we were tired and slightly frustrated. However, we resolved at each setback to roll with it by sharing how we were grateful that we were traveling together versus individually and that we still had a whole day before we had to speak.

In the book of Genesis, we learn about Joseph in chapters 37 through 50. We read how the Lord had revealed that he was going somewhere … the palace, to be exact. But Joseph didn’t get there as fast as he would have liked or imagined.

His first setback was being thrown into the pit by his brothers who did not believe in his dream. In spite of such rejection, we see how Joseph rolled with it as he was sent to work for Potiphar and did so with integrity. However, he faced his next setback when Potiphar’s wife lied about his character and he landed in prison. To our great surprise, we see how Joseph rolled with it yet again as he operated in his gift of interpreting dreams for the prisoners and ultimately, for Pharaoh. He was rooted in his confidence in the Lord and the time had finally come to take his place in the palace.

Dear Friend, you may find yourself in the midst of delays and denials right now in your circumstances. Know that it is okay to voice your feelings about it to God as David did in Psalm 6:6 (The Passion Translation): “I’m exhausted and worn out with my weeping. I endure weary, sleepless nights filled with moaning, soaking my pillow with my tears.”

But, before you dwell in pity and despair, move to gratitude, praise, trusting God and remaining true to who He has purposed you to be as David said in Psalm 7:17 (TPT): “But I will give all my thanks to you, Lord, for you make everything right in the end. I will sing my highest praise to the God of the Highest Place!”

You will reach the destination God has called you to and it will be amazing.
