A quick thought…
Every year, I seek out a word or a verse(s) to set the tone for the year to come. I wanted to share one of them with the Whisper’s and Fringes family, because I really think it can be a game changer.
In Exodus, we read about the journey of the Israelites out of Egypt, into the wilderness. They begin to establish their identity again and through the book, God is slowly educating them on how to live as His people. He reveals His glory to Moses, whom he talks to as ‘a friend’. He gives instructions for altars and he promises to meet his people there (20:24). He gives instructions for a tabernacle and, again, promises to meet his people there (25:22, 29:42, 30:6). Over and over again, we see that we have a God who seeks out relationship with us, not just our blind devotion.
This is made plain to us in Exodus 34:14:
“You must worship no other gods, but only the Lord, for he is a God who is passionate about his relationship with you”
God is passionate about you.
Just let that sink in for a moment. You don’t need me to define passionate for you. We all have our own ideas of what that word looks like.
How humbling it was to read that… especially when it brought to mind how many times His passion for me was not reciprocated.
What would YOUR day look like if everything you did was framed in that verse? What would your life look like?
It’s the truth, in black and white, written in His word, just for you. He is passionate about being in relationship with you. Let’s strive to walk out our faith with this reminder.
