As much as I love living in Dallas, we are definitely not known for our scenic landscape.  But this particular night, as I worked late into the evening, I stared outside a little bit longer than usual.

Behind the usual view of parking garages and office buildings, I saw the most beautiful colors light up the sky.  I thought to myself… “Wow, God…You are amazing.”

Little did I know that just a few hours later, my world would be turned upside down.

I got a call around 9:30 p.m. from my mom who said she was taking my dad to the ER.  This was not supposed to happen. My parents may be getting older but they are still healthy.

My husband & I rushed to the hospital that evening…and the past week has been filled with some of the most up & down moments of my life.

In the middle of my worry and despair, I could hear God saying… “I am the same God who has always taken care of you.  I am the same God who has done miracles that you have seen with your own eyes.  I am the same God who causes the sun to rise and set. I got this.”

When God referred to Himself as “I am”, it is the most all encompassing term that could be used.  “I am” is anything we need Him to be. The Bible assures us of who He is*.

  • Revelation – He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Thankfully, my dad is recovering but this experience has served as a valuable reminder.  Whatever situation you are in, remember the God that you serve.  The same God who healed the sick is the same God we serve today. The same God who showed up in the fire is the same God we serve today.

The same God who painted the sky that Monday night knew what was about to happen.  The same God didn’t just create the world…He holds my world in His hands too.  That’s the God I serve.

He is I AM.
