I had changed into the hospital gown and was laying down on the hospital bed. The nurses were starting my IV and I was feeling something…indescribable.
Excited?
Nervous?
Exhausted?
All the things.
I was in labor with our son and at any given moment, I could have burst into tears because I had all the feels bundled up inside. Anyone could have said anything, and the floodgates may have opened, but somehow I held it in.
The nurses were hooking me up to the monitors, my husband was at my bedside, and the phone rang. It was my sister calling for an update.
She had that sisterly sense that I was nervous about what was about to happen so she gave me some of the best advice I have ever heard:
“Whenever you feel scared, just say the name of Jesus over and over.”
I may have cried right then and there.
I’m tearing up now.
Because it pushed me through my laboring process and brought me such peace when I was feeling all jittery.
God blessed us with a sweet little baby boy the next morning, and my life have forever changed because of him.
That was years ago and my sister’s advice still rings powerful in my soul.
Sometimes, you have no other words because of the pain or the sorrow or …just all the feels packed up inside your heart.
But the name of Jesus is so sweet and seeps into your very soul to bring you a peace that cannot be described by words.
What season are you in? What is bringing you fear or anxiety?
Speak the name of Jesus over your situation. Out loud or as a whisper.
When you have made Jesus the Savior of your life, you have a glorious eternity in heaven awaiting you.
When you make Jesus the Lord of your life, you have a Comforter and a Counselor that you ALWAYS have access to.
You don’t need an appointment.
You don’t need to wait in line.
I speak the name of Jesus over 2023. We speak the name of Jesus over every situation this year.
