Yesterday I attended the memorial service of a young man who passed away unexpectedly last week. The service was a beautiful celebration of his life and the legacy he left behind in his 17 years on this earth.
There was so much love in that room, and I was so moved to see the collective Church and community come together to celebrate his beautiful life and to love on his sweet family.
There are no words that take away the pain for loved ones who grieve. But when words fall short, there is a peace that comes that truly passes all understanding. And I saw in his family last night, a peace that can only come from the throne room of heaven.
And I also witnessed those who were grieving still worship the Lord, despite their deep sorrow and pain. In their lowest valley, they could still lift their hands and trust that God is still on the throne.
I left there feeling reflecting of the brevity of life, but also on the beautiful hope that death is not the end.
My prayer today is that we would live each day with eternity in mind. That we would, as this young man did, boldly live out our assignment, while we love and serve each other well.
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12 NIV)
