While on vacation, we’ve been seeing lots of people, some getting reacquainted with and some meeting for the first time. For most, this is a fun experience.
Imagine our reaction when our son sat us down a few nights ago to share the following with us. He said all he sees are people who can do numerous things with both sides of their bodies. Our son tearfully shared that he feels like an “outcast” because of the limitations he has with his left arm and leg due to the stroke he experienced as a child.
Fighting back our own tears, we immediately engaged in conversation with him, empathizing with his feelings, but also breaking past the label the enemy tried to pigeonhole him into. My husband told my son about Nick Vujicic, who was born without arms or legs, evangelizing as His hands and feet all over the world and enjoying activities such as swimming and fishing.
Nick’s life demonstrates that “God can use a life without limbs to show the world how to live a life without limits!” (www.lifewithoutlimits.org)
What obstacle or struggle are you facing today? What have you told yourself you cannot do because of such? Be empowered, as our son has been, with the knowledge that “His strength is perfect when our strength is gone, He’ll carry us when we can’t carry on, Raised in His power, the weak become strong, His strength is perfect, HIS STRENGTH IS PERFECT.”
We have had the privilege of watching our son playing his favorite sport football and engage in his favorite pastime: video games, activities which require two hands. No limits.
May your anthem be “I CAN do ALL things through Christ Who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)
