Of all things, I was in the MIDDLE of a prayer call when I clicked over and heard the news.

“Mrs. Samuel, could you come and pick up Caleb, he is hurt.”

Really God? I was on a prayer call and THIS is what happens. I’m ashamed to say, that was my one sided, real, raw conversation with God as I drove to the gym to pick up my son. I knew it was REALLY bad when I saw three very strong men carrying him out of the emergency exit.

Oh boy. Here we go, this is going to be a journey.

And a journey it has been.

A few days later, as I sat down to pray, I was about halfway through my prayer list when the words “perfect and complete, not lacking anything” came to my mind. Those words have a nice ring to it. Don’t you think? Who wouldn’t want to be…

Perfect. Complete. Not lacking anything.

Sign me up! ??‍♀️

Oh but wait, there’s a prerequisite-

TRIALS

James chapter 1 explains.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face TRIALS of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be MATURE (perfect) and COMPLETE, NOT LACKING ANYTHING.”

I’ve read this verse a hundred times, but THIS TIME, it had a new meaning…this time I KNEW God was speaking directly to me. (And THIS TIME it was a two sided conversation)

Every trial. Every heartache. Every struggle on your prayer list. Even your son’s fractured tibia (which occurred while you were on that prayer call)- has a purpose.

Me: Really God?

God: Yes, Really. That’s what my Word says.

Maybe you’re like me and your personal prayer list is getting longer by the minute…consider it pure joy, my friend, good things are ahead for both of us. His Word says so.
