This past Saturday during our Bible study of 1 Samuel*, we were asked to share how God has delivered on a promise that He has given us.
Immediately, I thought of the promise from Deuteronomy 31:6 in which God says He will never leave us nor forsake us.
If I were to even begin to list the ways God has made that promise a reality, let’s just say the ladies in the session would be there for a loooooooooooooong time … you get the idea, right?
Yet, during the moment the question was asked, I had been battling feeling alone and as if I had been forgotten. Earlier that week, I had engaged in a conversation that left me questioning my worth and doubting myself. And there I was in front of the screen just hurting on the inside.
Shortly after the Bible study was over, I was in the car on my way to attend an event and I was lost in my thoughts. Then, a SUV passed by and I saw these words handwritten in large letters across its back window:
THE LORD DELIGHTS IN YOU
Huh? Was I seeing things? What were the odds that someone would write that on their window?
I can’t even begin to describe the wave of emotion that had flooded me at that very moment. In His infinite mercy, our Father allowed me to see this reminder that He is right there beside me and that He loves me.
Without a doubt, those words provided me with the comfort and peace I needed to think clearly. Moreover, those words gave me the courage to revisit the conversation and clarify the misunderstanding that had occurred.
Thank You, Lord, for being my Promise Keeper!
2 Corinthians 1:20 (ESV) states, “For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory.”
Whatever you are facing at this moment, rest assured that God does what He says.
