I don’t know about you, but I do not have answers for the challenges that come my way. In fact, such circumstances leave me feeling sad and confused.
Sure, talking about it to a friend helps. Reading a practical book is insightful. But the problem is still there and so is the unrest in my mind.
Some days are just plain ol’ hard with the situations you face, right? Maybe a troubled marriage or a health crisis has you stressed out. Maybe your child’s poor choice or your finances leave you sleepless at night.
What can you do?
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Nehemiah was heartbroken by what he heard about the Jews living in exile. Chapter 1 tells us that he wept and he mourned. Yes, Nehemiah was a leader, but he was just as human as you and I are.
The fact is however that he didn’t remain in that state. We read his heartfelt prayer in verses 5 through 11.
This song “The More I Seek You” by Kari Jobe has been playing on repeat the past few days in my quiet time. It has felt like a healing balm over my aching heart. I am challenged to go to the Lord, seek Him, and just remain there. As I am in His presence, I feel His peace cover me like a warm blanket. And as I emerge from the presence of God, I know that He is the Lifter of my head, my Strength, the Rock upon which I can firmly stand.
I don’t know what is weighing on your heart today my Friend, but may you feel inclined to go to the Lord and just sit at His feet. Let Him enfold you with His Spirit and His love. Let the Lord take your burdens. Rather than you being overwhelmed by them, may you instead be overwhelmed by His perfect peace.
