I went up for every altar call, called every 1-800 prayer line, I fasted, I prayed.

I needed a breakthrough.

It’s funny how committed I can be when I’m desperately in need of God to act on my behalf.

And then there are times when life is good and I can barely make it to my church’s Wednesday morning prayer service…on line. ??‍♀️

It seems I’m not the only who has a hard time staying fully committed when the pressure lifts.

In Joshua 5, the Israelites are forty years removed from slavery and have finally crossed the Jordan.

Time to party? Not exactly.

The first thing the Lord tells Joshua to do, is to get back to the basics.

“Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites…”

In Genesis 17, God made a covenant with Abraham. The covenant of circumcision.

When the Israelites were enslaved, they kept this covenant. I’m sure it was inconvenient, but they obeyed God & circumcised their eight day old baby boys.

Once “free,” there went the flint knives! After all, they were “free.” Free from slavery…but not free from God’s loving commands.

Friends, I sincerely pray that each of us receive our breakthrough. I pray God grants every desire of our heart. And when He does, I pray our walk with Jesus will only grow stronger and I pray we stay faithfully committed to what pleases Him.

“The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love Him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.” Deuteronomy 30:6
