So, the election is finally over. I surely won’t miss those commercials! Did you go vote? I hope you did! Did you stay up last night to watch the results? I did, too.
Maybe your candidate won or maybe they didn’t. I’m actually not here to discuss the politics or issues or endorse a person or party, but want to encourage you as a Christian. This has been an interesting time in our history. I don’t recall another campaign season quite like this one. In my voting career, I have never been so torn as I was when I stood to cast my ballot.
I want to encourage you, fellow believer, that our God is still in control. Psalms 28: 7 says “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts him and I am sustained.” No matter what goes on in our government, the Lord will take care of his children.
We need to remember our leaders in prayer. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 “I urge then, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
We need to be a light that shines in this world. In 1 Timothy 4, Paul encourages Timothy to set an example “in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity”. Charlotte Gambill said it like this: “The earth is our assignment, not our home.” We must remember our calling.
So we went to bed last night under one government and woke up this morning with a new regime on the horizon. It may seem like everything has changed, but for you, fellow believer, our leader is the one who is the same- yesterday, today, and forever. ~Shiney
