It feels like it’s been a really tough season for a lot of people. For close family and friends, as well as those that I have admired from afar…difficult diagnoses, sickness, death and loss. It seems like a constant barrage of pain, and the heartbreak is so real.
And in these circumstances, it’s easy to wonder if God really is in control. If this is you, then you are not alone.
Many of our Biblical heroes had doubts and questions of their own. Abraham, Moses, Elijah, John the Baptist…and the list goes on.
But what I’m learning is that because God is not a man, His ways are infinitely beyond what my human mind can understand.
It reminds me of when my kids ask me difficult questions. They often think they are mature enough to handle the answers, but as a parent I know they are not capable of comprehending the answer to the question they have asked.
As a parent, if I answered those questions fully when they weren’t mature enough to handle it, I know that the answer will do them more harm than good.
If you are in a difficult season right now, I want to encourage you to trust the heart of your Heavenly Father. He has not left you. He is walking right beside you….carrying you when you cannot carry yourself.
“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. “ (Isaiah 46:4, NIV)
