Can I just be real with you Friend?

The past few weeks have been really hard on this Mama’s heart.

There were just some days and some choices which left me overwhelmed. I felt discouraged and all alone as if no one could possibly understand or relate.

Then, the Lord ever so gently reminds me that every child belongs to Him and my trust needs to remain in Him and the plans He has for each one.

The following lyrics from “Another in the Fire” by Hillsong United have been soothing to me:

“There was another in the fire
Standing next to me
There was another in the waters
Holding back the seas
And should I ever need reminding
Of how I’ve been set free
There is a cross that bears the burden
Where another died for me
There is another in the fire”

What a powerful reminder of Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego in Daniel chapter 3. Their refusal to bow down and worship an image of gold of King Nebuchadnezzar led them into a fiery furnace as punishment. How overwhelming! But they were confident in their decision and that they were not alone. Verse 25 clearly proves the latter as there were “four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed”. Praise God for His presence and protection!

What a powerful reminder of how God parted the Red Sea in Exodus 14 with a wall of water to the right and to the left as countless Israelites crossed safely on dry land. Not far behind were Pharaoh and the Egyptians who were in pursuit of them. But verse 14 reminds us “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” The Israelites were saved from the hands of the Egyptians. Praise God for His presence and protection!

You are not alone. The Lord is present in all of our circumstances, no matter how overwhelmed we may feel by them. So whether you find yourself struggling as a parent, as a spouse, or as an employee, remember Jesus’ words from Matthew 28:20: “I am with you always”. The Lord promises in Isaiah 41:10: “I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
