Waiting

By |May 22nd, 2023|Categories: Misc.|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on Waiting

Have you ever waited for something so long that you concluded maybe God just forgot about your prayer? My son was ready to get behind the wheel and hit the open road when he was 15 years old. But that was during 2020 … ‘nuff said, right? By the time the world resumed normal activity, it seemed that there was one hurdle after another to get the needed driving training. For starters, it took months to get an appointment at the nearby location. When we finally went in, we learned that it was the instructor's last day. So, we had

God is Good

God gave me a vision one day of a banner. Although it was years ago, it was so clear that I can still see it in my mind's eye today. The banner was flying in the blue sky, and on it were the words, "Transplant is Coming". My mom's kidneys were not functioning well, and she had been on dialysis for years.  It was a very trying time for her and our family, especially for Dad. Medications, dialysis, doctor's visits, waiting rooms, and side effects were part of the routine. Her spirits were high and her faith strong, but there

Tell Your Story

Influence is a word we hear a lot these days. In fact, most people probably equate an influencer as someone on social media who has the ability to persuade others to spend money for certain products or maybe to persuade someone politically or socially. According to today’s standards, the more followers you have online, the more influence you have. But the truth is, we don’t need a big stage or a social media following to be an influence.   It can be as simple as sharing our story with our neighbor, a friend, or even someone sitting in a waiting room

Yobo and Appa’s Jesus

By |May 5th, 2023|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , |Comments Off on Yobo and Appa’s Jesus

My husband and I recently finished a television series called "Kim's Convenience".  It's the story of a Korean family that immigrated to Canada.  They run a convenience store and are very active in their Korean Christian church.  They have a son and daughter, and over the few seasons, it depicts the challenges of raising a family while holding onto their traditional values. In the last season, the mom (affectionately referred to as "Yobo" at times) develops some health issues and starts to have a crisis of faith.  Through out the previous seasons, she has always held strong to her faith

There was a different kind of joy in his voice when he called me.  I seriously thought my son had met a girl.😍 My son: “Hey mamma.” Me: “Hey Joshie…How was your day?” My son: “Oh, it was GREAT! Me: “GREAT? WHY GREAT? TELL ME!” {This is where I thought I’d hear all about the amazing girl he met} Josh began to tell me about his communications class. His professor’s  assignment for that day was for each student to give a 2 minute impromptu persuasive speech.  His fellow students seemed to be keeping the subject matter light, so my son

Fix My Eyes

Goat scream. That's what my kids call my cheer from the sidelines. There's no mistaking Mama's scream. Just imagine the screaming goat from the movie, The Grinch. If you haven't seen it, you need to look it up online.  Needless to say, it isn't pretty. I don't know how to explain the bubble of joy that fills my lungs and erupts from my larynx when I cheer them on, but whether it's a basket that my son's made or the soccer ball hitting squarely into the net at my daughter's game, I can't contain it. For my kids' (and husband's)

Read Your Bible

By |April 17th, 2023|Categories: Misc.|Comments Off on Read Your Bible

Growing up I memorized A LOT of scripture.  I can remember attending a private Christian school for the first few years of my elementary education and beginning in Pre-K we were required to memorize scripture as part of our weekly assignments.  And after that I memorized even more scriptures as part of my church’s annual memory verse competition.  I was pretty competitive, so I was pretty motivated to memorize as many scriptures as I could. But is it really that important to read the Bible and to learn God’s word?  As a child trying to win a competition, I definitely

Til Death Do Us Part

By |April 11th, 2023|Categories: Misc.|Tags: , , , , , , |Comments Off on Til Death Do Us Part

Since I was a young girl, my parents have had family friends who were more like family to us. There was one couple in particular who I thought of as my own uncle and aunt. I referred to them as Appachen and Ammachi. Having a background that hails from South India, I realized that public displays of affection were uncommon in our culture. But how Appachen and Ammachi related to one another as husband and wife broke the mold for me.  I watched how this sweet couple walked alongside each other. They had affectionate nicknames for each other. Appachen and

Get Thee Behind Me Satan

By |April 7th, 2023|Categories: Misc.|Tags: , |Comments Off on Get Thee Behind Me Satan

“Get thee behind me Satan”  That probably wasn’t the caption you expected to read when you saw the picture of me and my sweet boys. Strangely enough, over the past few months, those 5 words (found in Matthew 16:23) have been ringing in my ears when I think of them. Keep reading and I’ll explain.  In Matthew 16, Jesus asks His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?”  Peter responds, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus commends Peter,  “Blessed are you, Simon…and I tell you that you are Peter (the rock), and on this
