Mission Possible

By |August 2nd, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook, Misc.|Tags: , , , |Comments Off on Mission Possible

I've shared previously how my family and I ventured to take road trips across the United States.  Following is an account from our adventure this summer: Family of 5.  4 flights.  Passports in tow as we step out of the country for the first time.  4 pieces of luggage plus bags to carry on.  2 whole weeks. Cramming it all into non mini-van type vehicles.  And checking the bags, which are hopefully the correct weight. Being entrusted with the joy of packing our family's belongings for our trips, I have learned the fine craft of folding and packaging so that

What Is in Your Hand?

By |July 30th, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Misc.|Tags: , |Comments Off on What Is in Your Hand?

As we have come to the midway point of 2016, I was reflecting on my vision for this year and what I believed God wanted me to accomplish with it. Although I always look my own personal goals as what I YET have to accomplish, God brought back to my mind how much He has ALREADY allowed me to accomplish so far in 2016. At the beginning of 2016, one of our Pastors, Amie Dockery, gave a powerful message that has helped drive me to make 2016 a year of intention and purpose. She spoke on the meaning of the

The Extra Mile

By |July 29th, 2016|Categories: Facebook, Misc.|Tags: , , , , , , |Comments Off on The Extra Mile

I have a 30 mile commute to work...one way. I’ll admit...once I am on my way home, I hate to make stops. I don’t want to go to the grocery store. I don’t want to run an errand. I just want to drive straight home. I’m kinda like that about a lot of things. How can I get this particular task "over with" in the least amount of time possible? 30 minute meals? Yes and thank you Rachael Ray. An hour’s worth of results in just a 25 minute workout? Uh...yes please! If it’s all about the results, then I’m

Be Prepared

By |July 28th, 2016|Categories: Misc.|Tags: , |Comments Off on Be Prepared

My grandmother (I call her Ammachi) does not own an iPhone. She is not on social media. She does not keep up with CNN's updates regarding our current political climate or the world news. But she does sense the urgency of the days we live in. This past week at her church's Tuesday morning prayer meeting, my Ammachi spoke about the end times. She recited many scriptures regarding the last days. And she urged those present- Be prepared for Christ's return. My grandmother has lived over nine decades. She lived in the day when India was under the British rule.

Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself?

By |July 28th, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Comments Off on Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself?

This is me being transparent (again). I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way- if you fight against the same feelings that I wrestle with. As I reflect back on the events around the world in the last month, my heart sinks.  Dallas, Nice, Germany, Japan to name a few.  As I plan events with my kids this summer, I second guess whether we should even go. Even something as simple as taking the kids to the movies conjures up feelings of anxiety.  When I am alone at work, my heart begins to race with every unfamiliar sound.  At

Stay Positive!

By |July 27th, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook, Misc.|Tags: |Comments Off on Stay Positive!

Are there co-workers or people that you are around that seem to know what buttons to push? Comments they make or ideas they come up with just seem to get under your skin and seem to fire you up. What about with our politically charged environment now? You would have to have your television unplugged and be off social media completely to avoid the negativity that we have surrounding us daily. You pretty much would have to be avoiding people in general to not hear disturbing comments about our current or potential leaders. I listened to a segment on the radio

Refreshing Relationships

By |July 26th, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , |Comments Off on Refreshing Relationships

Got to love the summer, right? Heat. Humidity. Perspiration. And then, you step into a cool shower. Simply refreshing, isn't it? That's exactly how I feel about friendship.  For my 40th birthday, I was able to celebrate it with the special ladies God placed in my life in the eleven years I've lived in Texas. Coming home to New York, I have been able to spend quality time with childhood and college friends. In each situation, the conversations, laughter, and tears have led me to walk away feeling energized, strengthened, and reinvigorated. I'm reminded of Jesus' life as He traveled

My Own Little Blessing

My daughter attends a small Montessori school near our home.  She has been there since she turned one. My son went to the same school from the time he was one until he was ready to start kindergarten. Needless to say, we are know all the teachers, administrators and several of the families. When my husband went to pick her up on Monday, the administrator and one of the teachers stopped him to talk to him about our daughter.  They felt like she was ready to be moved to the next classroom and wanted to know if we were okay

Failure

By |July 22nd, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Misc.|Tags: |Comments Off on Failure

I was recently listening to an interview with Oprah Winfrey about some of the things she’s learned from interviewing more than 30,000 guests during the 25 year run of her talk show. She said that one of the things she learned is that people get so stuck when it comes to failure. She said she’s found that failure is actually a good thing as it can be a sign from God that you have made a wrong decision and need to move in another direction. She said that we learn just as much from our failures as we do from

No Limits

By |July 22nd, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , |Comments Off on No Limits

While on vacation, we've been seeing lots of people, some getting reacquainted with and some meeting for the first time. For most, this is a fun experience. Imagine our reaction when our son sat us down a few nights ago to share the following with us. He said all he sees are people who can do numerous things with both sides of their bodies. Our son tearfully shared that he feels like an "outcast" because of the limitations he has with his left arm and leg due to the stroke he experienced as a child. Fighting back our own tears,
