It’s All About the Shoes

Coffee and great company. How could it get any better? My friend told me I was awesome. BAM! I'm all ears ... tell me more :) Well, maybe she didn't use those exact words, but she might as well have. My friend shared how much she appreciated me as a mom, having a special needs child, and home schooling him as well, which she imagined were not easy based on watching others in similar situations. That sweet friend's words truly lifted my spirits. I didn't hear that she felt sorry for me or pitied me. Rather, she sensed that it isn't

The Next Right Thing

By |February 17th, 2017|Categories: Devotionals|Tags: |Comments Off on The Next Right Thing

Most of us who grew up in church have heard it said “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord!” as quoted from Moses to the people of Israel soon after they left Egypt and were faced with the Red Sea in front of them, and Pharaoh and his army behind them. But when I was reading this passage recently I noticed something I had not noticed before.  Moses is telling the people to stand still and watch the Lord rescue them.  But God is telling Moses “Why are you crying out to me?  Tell the people to get

Law and Grace

I made it through car line yesterday morning in the nick of time. It was raining, and I was late getting out the door.  I made it to the back of the long car line, and as we inched closer to the school building, I kept my eye on the clock. The school has a strict tardy policy.  So, naturally, parents are scrambling and competitive when it comes to car line. Yesterday, we heard angry honks and witnessed people cutting in line to assure their child wasn't late. We finally made it to the front of school, and...success!  My daughter

The “S” Word

By |February 14th, 2017|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , , , , |Comments Off on The “S” Word

Sometimes, it is hard being a woman. I’m not talking about those particular “days of the month” if you know what I am saying.  I’m not even referring to labor. I’m also not talking about how many women not only work outside the home, but they also are the manager at home.  And believe it or not, I’m not alluding to the fact that we are expected to do all this with our hair done, make-up on and wearing high-heels.   All of the above is hard but what I am talking about is another word that has become politically

It’s not about the Sandwich…

By |February 13th, 2017|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook, Misc.|Tags: |Comments Off on It’s not about the Sandwich…

It wasn't about the sandwich. That may have been where the conversation started...but it wasn't the real issue. For months I had been hearing about a kid who sits at my son's lunch table. This particular student doesn't always have a lunch. Sometimes, he looks around the table and asks the other boys if they have anything "extra." My heart sank as I found out a few more details about this classmate. So I decided to add an extra tangerine to my son's lunch. I told my son, "If that kid is asking for food. Don't make it a big

Love- God Style

By |February 10th, 2017|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , , , , , |Comments Off on Love- God Style

'Tis the season for love. Valentine's Day will be here soon. The day of the year filled with chocolates, flowers, cards.  I have spent a few days reflecting on love- not necessarily in preparation for Valentine's Day- more so as a way to sharpen myself. God's love towards Adam.  When God came to commune with Adam and Eve in the evening, he already knew that they had sinned.  He simply asks "Who told you that you were naked?... Have you eaten the fruit I commanded you not to eat?" ( Gen 3:11). God loved the sinner. God's love towards Cain.  After

The Power of Daily Prayer

By |February 9th, 2017|Categories: Devotionals, Misc.|Tags: |Comments Off on The Power of Daily Prayer

I was having one of those mornings. So after dropping the kids off to school, I went upstairs and sat in my boys' room to pray. It's actually my favorite place to pray when I have the house to myself. As my prayer time came to an end, I looked down at my phone and saw that a friend from India had sent me a message. The message was the video clip below. I watched the video and couldn't believe God's perfect timing. I pray that you are as inspired as I was by this simple but amazing real life

Miracles and Memorials

By |February 8th, 2017|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , , , |Comments Off on Miracles and Memorials

We read about many miracles in the Bible. For example, there's the miracle which the Israelites experienced on their way to the Promised Land at the Jordan River in Joshua chapter 3. As soon as the priests, who were carrying the ark of the covenant, set foot in the flood-level waters of the Jordan River, the water stopped flowing. All of Israel was able to pass by until the whole nation has crossed on dry ground. What a miraculous provision! Miracles, however, aren't limited to the Bible as many of us may think. I experienced one that saved my life as a

Eternal Love

By |February 2nd, 2017|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook, Misc.|Tags: , , |Comments Off on Eternal Love

I was probably in middle school when my dad bought me my first desk.  It was a beautiful cream-colored desk with a nice accordion-type cover to keep all my things private with different built-in sections.  I kept it for years. The desk sat in front of a window that faced our backyard, the part of the yard that faces the side of the house where the AC unit sat.  It was almost like a forgotten part of the yard. Well, Dad brought a beautiful bougainvillea and planted it right there in that forgotten area of the backyard. My mom questioned his

My Grown-Up Prayer List

By |February 1st, 2017|Categories: Facebook, Misc.|Tags: |Comments Off on My Grown-Up Prayer List

“Can you pray for me?” How many times a week...maybe even a day...do you hear that? It doesn't just happen with your immediate circle of family & friends.  One peek on social media and you often encounter a whole other set of requests. And I love that. I love that people reach out to people for prayer because they recognize the power of it.  I’ve experienced it firsthand like many of you have. So, in light of that, can I ask you to pray for me? Please pray for me because….my prayer list is overwhelming. Yes.  Overwhelming. This week alone, several friends and
