Seasons
I was in the early training stages of my career, and my first clinical rotation took place in a nursing home. My assignment was to get the medical history from a frail, elderly woman who could not see very well. After getting a thorough history, I got up from the chair with my clipboard and started walking toward the door. She continued to chat, telling me a bit about her family. It had nothing to do with her medical history. I could tell she didn't want me to leave. She was hungry for someone to listen. New to patient care,
Rest in the Lord
For most people, the word vacation refers to an opportunity to rest. That is certainly the idea that comes to my mind as well. However, I enjoy balancing that out with visiting the sights and documenting that with pictures … lots and lots of pictures to be exact. In fact, anyone who knows me typically sees me behind the camera because I love capturing the moment … Each. And. Every. One. Of. Them. There were the pics that I thought would be great for a post. Not to mention the pics of the beautiful sights I didn’t want to forget.
Our Kids…
Last night, as I pulled into my subdivision after work, I noticed a couple of guys attempting to change a flat tire. I walked inside my house and sat down. My husband asked me about my day and then proceeded to ask if I had seen a couple of kids on our street trying to change a flat tire. "Um, kids? I saw two guys. I think they are in their early twenties." Apparently, the two young men had been struggling with that flat tire for a couple of hours. My husband had already offered to help (and even offered
God Knows…
“We regret to inform you” wasn’t what I wanted to hear...but God knows what needs to happen to me now to get me to where He wants me to be. ~ Anu https://youtu.be/UrPAZHsDowU
Got Disappointment?
I love this photo of my girls in matching jumpsuits. Well … almost. I should have been in that pic also. Now before you conclude that I have issues with vanity and narcissism, let me explain. As soon as school was over, my family and I left for vacation. It was the first time my children were going on a cruise. We were all so excited. But I will admit that I felt a tad bit nervous as I considered the possibility of my kids becoming sick. What would we do? We were going to be so far away from

The Gram
I'm new to the Gram. Instagram, that is. In an effort to develop in my career, I have gingerly climbed out of my safe little cave and crept into the daunting world called social media. So when my boss suggested Instagram, I was a bit reluctant. Just when I became a pro at Facebook, I stared blankly at the circles on Instagram, trying to figure out what to tap. Fortunately, with some coaching from my millennial friends at work, I proudly put up my first post a few months ago. Social media is now a way of life, and today,
Three Simple Words…
Thank you Mama. Three simple words, I never get tired of hearing. In the morning, when I place a scrambled egg on my son’s plate. Thank you Mama. When we sit to eat dinner. Thank you Mama. Whether it comes from a high pitched seven year old, or a really deep, sounds a little like Barry White, seventeen year old....those words have never failed to warm my heart. Ever. And you know what? Those words warm the heart of our Heavenly Father too. In Luke chapter 17, Jesus was making his way toward Jerusalem. He entered a village and encountered
On My Behalf
I love this video. Obviously, there’s the cuteness factor. I mean...seriously. Grant (the little guy) is convinced that he is actually pushing Caleb (the bigger guy) around. Grant even seems to be exerting himself..and ends it off with giving himself a round of applause. All the while, it was Caleb who was really doing the work. I watched the video and smiled....especially when I realized that’s what God does for me too. Recently, I was given the opportunity to participate in the women’s conference at my church. When someone asked me if I was ready, I said,
Call out the Gold
One of the birthday traditions we have in our family is sharing what we love about the celebrant. It’s truly a special time for the birthday boy/girl who feels encouraged as they realize the impact that their life has on each of us. In his book Raising Giant-Killers, Bill Johnson refers to this as a culture of honor in calling “out the gold in people.” He said, “most people live aware of the things they wish were different in their lives, with a heightened awareness of their own weaknesses and idiosyncrasies. What many usually don’t know is their significance, gifting
