Imagine…Us

By |July 8th, 2016|Categories: Facebook, Misc.|Tags: , |Comments Off on Imagine…Us

9/11 was a scary time for the United States as a nation. My husband & I happened to be in New York that week and were in complete shock of what was happening right around us. The following weekend, I recall watching the news and hearing about an “Arab-looking” gas station attendant being attacked, in an act of revenge. It turns out that “Arab-looking” man was Indian. That shook me to the core. I am Indian. My father is Indian. My husband and brothers-in-law are Indian. The list goes on & on. I was afraid for them. I was afraid

Remembering Lot’s wife

By |July 7th, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , |Comments Off on Remembering Lot’s wife

It has been an interesting week in the world of basketball. Kevin Durant left OKC for Golden State, Dwayne Wade left Miami for the Chicago Bulls, and Chandler Parsons left the Mavs for the Memphis  Grizzlies. Fans all over the country are either ecstatic or heartbroken depending on who has joined or departed their favorite team. Transitions in life aren't always easy. In my life, even when it was clear God's hand was all over a certain situation, the transition process was draining and difficult. The children of Israel also struggled with the emotional strains of transition. Just days after

Flowers

By |July 7th, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , , , , |Comments Off on Flowers

For the last two weeks, these flowers have been sitting on my kitchen counter.  Everyone that has come to my house has asked me what I did to get flowers for no apparent reason.  I gave them all the same response, "I wrecked the car." This is met with puzzled looks, especially from the guys. A few weeks ago, as I was driving the kids to their dentist appointment, I hit a barrier on the side of the highway.  If I told you that it jumped out of no where would you believe me? Because it totally did! I dislocated

Hospitality

Let's imagine that I called you today and told you I'd like to come visit your home in a couple of hours. How would you feel? Panicked? Unprepared? Stressed? Most people, on receiving news of a guest, would naturally clean up the clutter in their home, work on a snack tray, and change into some appropriate attire. But, it is usually done with either a sense of panic or peace. Some people are blessed with the gift of hospitality. I marvel at those women that seem to appear calm and unraveled when hosting people in their homes. They seem to

Spiritual Fitness

At the beginning of the year I started exercising again and using the elliptical machine as part of my New Year's resolution. One of my other resolutions was to be more consistent with my quiet time. As I was using the machine the Lord pointed out 3 measurements on it: Time Distance Calories burned He clearly spoke that just like using an exercise machine, our quiet time is meant to accomplish things in our life, if we let it.   Time: Will we spend time before Him and let Him teach us? He wants His word to empower us and

Recipe – Pad Kee Mow

If you love Thai food as much as I do, then you will love this recipe. I've made it several times already and I loved it. You will have to make a trip to the Asian grocery store to get some of the ingredients, but I promise you it will be well worth it. The first link is for the recipe, and the second is a quick YouTube video where Chef Jet Tila will walk you through step by step on how to prepare this recipe.  I hope you enjoy! ~ Vijoy http://www.averagebetty.com/recipes/jet-tilas-drunken-noodles-recipe/ https://youtu.be/jitlk2VetuE

Goals

There is something missing from the picture on the left. Me. Romans 7:15 states, "For I do not understand my own actions (I am baffled and bewildered by them).I do not practice what I want to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate (do not want to do)." Paul was probably not thinking about exercise when he wrote this verse...but I sure do. Can I encourage you (and myself)? We still have 6 more months to make 2016 what we desired it to be 6 months ago!! If you have been slacking lately (like me), let's together

Serenity

Have you ever wanted to curl up into a little ball and cry or crawl into bed under the covers because you felt so disappointed and frustrated that things didn't go your way?  But, of course, you're an adult and you opt to take the mature route and hold your feelings in...except for the fact that deep down inside you feel like a lonely kid on the verge of a tantrum. For the past year, I have been looking forward to the application date to get my daughter into a competitive charter school. I visited the facility about two years

Courage Required

Leading.  Teaching.  Administrating. We each have a gift from God which we have been entrusted with.  When we discover this gift, there’s excitement and enthusiasm to use it, like the two servants entrusted with two and five bags of money, respectively, found in Matthew 25:14-30.  They invested and earned, each winning praises from their master. However, not all of us feel this eagerness, like the servant entrusted with one bag of money.  He hid it and he explained to his master that he did so because he was afraid he'd lose it. How has fear stopped you from using your gift?

From Then…to Now

By |June 26th, 2016|Categories: Devotionals, Facebook|Tags: , , , , , , |Comments Off on From Then…to Now

Have you ever seen one of those time-lapse videos? It’s usually a couple of minutes long but it shows what happened over an extended period of time, like the construction of a new building or setting up for a major event. It’s amazing how they can capture what took days or sometimes even years to accomplish...in just in a few minutes. The picture you see is kinda like that.  That’s my husband & I telling our story to a group of people...some of whom we don’t even know their names. We told them about the early years of our marriage.
