VIDEO:Keep the Faith
It’s frustrating when we deal with the same battles over and over again. It’s comforting to know that God still “values” us! “He is not impressed by the strength of a horse; He does not value the power of a man. The Lord values those who fear Him, those who put their hope in His faithful love.” Psalms 147:10-11 HCSB Hope this video encourages you! ~Anu https://youtu.be/HMkSBNgRwAA
When Your Prayer Turns Into a Task
In 1 Kings chapter 19, we encounter an exhausted Elijah. He prays to die and the Lord provides him with fresh bread and water. He goes into the cave and then experiences the majestic presence of God in the form of a gentle whisper. God asks him twice "What are you doing here?" Elijah responds that he has been zealous for the Lord and done some incredible things for Him. He claims that he is the only one left that serves the Lord. Elijah lodges his complaint- as I have done so many, many times. My complaint is slightly different.
Secure: From the Inside Out
Along with recess and pizza day, ‘Show & Tell’ always made for a fun time at school. One particular morning, I planned to share my recent vacation adventure with my fourth grade class. When my turn FINALLY came, I walked excitedly toward the front, only to hear a little boy groan and complain, “Ugh… she is going to take FOREVER.” I sheepishly smiled, trying not to appear bothered by his comment. Once I started talking, I quickly glanced at him, wondering if my little tale had won him over. It had not. He could not have looked more bored. I
Unlikely Provision
My technician and I still laugh about it today. The timing was crazy! We were short handed and she needed the upcoming Saturday off. All week long, I tried. I reached out to our team, but no one could cover her shift…and we still had no solid leads with the technician job posting that had been up for months. I was disappointed, and that Friday afternoon, I told her the bad news. She was bummed, but she understood. Within minutes (or maybe even seconds), a young man approached the counter needing a flu shot. He and I stepped into our
VIDEO: Ruth & Orpah
You have probably heard of a woman named Ruth in the Bible, but what about her sister-in-law, Orpah? Don’t worry if you said no. You are not the only one. Some decisions impact a moment. Others will define our lives. That was the case for Ruth, Orpah, and me. A big thank you to Lighthouse Baptist Church for the opportunity to share a little video teaching with their young adults group. My prayer is that it will encourage everyone who watches it! P.S. Don’t judge my coffee intake. ~Anu https://youtu.be/4lGCgtGA72A
First Love
I had a special request for my husband when we first started getting to know each other: Please don't say "I love you" until you are ready to make a commitment and propose. Love was sacred to me, and I needed some assurance that he was willing to make sacrifices and be devoted to me before he made the statement. I was trying to guard my heart and not give in to emotions. I still fondly remember the way I felt when he looked at me or how natural it felt to converse with him....it didn't matter who else was
Pray for Wisdom
The past few weeks have been challenging with work, children, and family. A few curveballs came in each of these areas of my life. My initial thought was what am I going to do? How am I going to handle this? The truth is, life brings me these challenges quite often. And usually my first reaction is worry, anxiety, and fear. It’s like a nagging pit in my stomach that can be pushed aside temporarily, but it usually stays simmering just under the surface. Last week as I was facing one of these situations, I remembered the prayer of Solomon.
Who Are Your Friends?
It sounds simple enough but the consequences were detrimental. “But Amnon had a friend...” 2 Samuel 13:3 This friend, Jonadab, was described as a “crafty” man. This isn’t Pinterest crafty. It was more like “cunning” or “shrewd” according to other translations. Jonadab offered Amnon some absolutely horrible advice. Unfortunately, Amnon listened, and followed through with it. From there, King David’s family was torn apart. All because Amnon had a friend. Who are your friends? Who are the people who speak into your life? Who do you go to for advice? Who will speak the truth to you in love? Who
School’s Out For Summer
Tomorrow is my kids' last day of school. This academic year has flown by. This CALENDAR year is flying by. As we were talking about all the things that they're going to "miss" about school (which was a very short list), I started remembering my own anxiety that I had about their school year. That anxiety started back in 2020, when the previous school year came to an abrupt halt. We knew that it was going to be their final year at that school, and I was so sad for them that they couldn't go back and say bye to
Potato Marykutty
In Titus 2:5, Paul encourages older women (that’s me ) to teach younger women (that might be you) how to ‘stay busy’ or as some translations put it, ‘maintain a home’...and girls, part of maintaining a home might involve a little cooking. But don’t worry...the recipes I post are always simple & do-able. Today, we will be making...drum roll please ? ???... Potato Mezhukkupuratti!!! Don’t let the crazy English spelling of this simple South Indian dish intimidate you. It’s pronounced more like potato merry-courti or as my sister & I used to say, Potato Marykutty. It really doesn’t matter how
